EMEDUS meets in Rome to project research on informal media education in Europe

The European research project EMEDUS held a workshop on 17 October at the headquarters of theInstitute of Political, Economic andSocial Studies (EURISPES) in Rome, with the aim of preparing work package 4 of the project dedicated to informal media education at the European level.

José Manuel Pérez Tornero and Juan Francisco Martinez, director and researcher respectively at the Department of Communication and Education, participated as partner at the meeting on behalf of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), which coordinates the EMEDUS project. Also present at the meeting were Gian Maria Fara and Marco Ricceri, president and general secretary of EURISPES respectively, as well as other members of their organization.

Guest participants also included researchers and professionals from the University of Rome La Sapienza and theNationalFederation of Teachers.

The objective of the workshop was to share the development of work package 4, dedicated to research on media education in the informal environment at the European level. The progress of field work and the minimum requirements for the presentation of results were discussed. Methodological aspects for the qualitative study and interviews with experts in the field were also agreed to.

According to Juan Francisco Martinez, coordinating researcher of EMEDUS from the UAB, "the meeting was very important to introduce ourselves as work groups, strengthen relationships among partners, share resources and make decisions regarding the development of this research."

The EMEDUS project held its last meeting on September 14 at the headquarters of the European Associations for Viewers Interests (EAVI) in Brussels.
